Convert square feet, square metres, acres, and hectares correctly
Avoid applying a length conversion directly to an area measurement.
An area unit measures a two-dimensional surface. That is why converting a room’s square feet to square metres needs a squared conversion factor, not the single factor used for a length.
Square the length factor
One foot is exactly 0.3048 metres. One square foot is therefore 0.3048 × 0.3048 = 0.09290304 square metres. If a floor has 100 square feet, it covers about 9.290304 square metres. Multiplying 100 by 0.3048 would be the wrong calculation.

Compare land measures carefully
A hectare is exactly 10,000 square metres. An acre is about 4,046.8564224 square metres, so a hectare is about 2.471 acres. When a listing says “one acre” or “one hectare,” check that the source uses the unit you expect before comparing prices or sizes.
Conversion is not measurement
The tool cannot tell you whether a floor plan or land boundary is accurate. A legal survey and a property document may use rules beyond a simple numerical conversion. Keep enough precision for your purpose, and verify consequential figures against the original measurement. Your values stay in the browser.
