How silence detection works
OneFreePlace measures short RMS windows, applies a threshold with hysteresis, rejects gaps shorter than your minimum silence, and then shortens only the qualifying regions. Padding and crossfades protect word edges from abrupt cuts.
Natural speech, not robotic speech
Keeping a small amount of every long pause usually sounds more human than deleting every gap. The Natural Podcast preset retains breathing room while removing obvious dead air.
Privacy & limits
Waveform analysis and WAV rendering happen in your browser. MP3/OGG export loads a pinned FFmpeg/WebAssembly engine but your audio remains on the device. Very long recordings can require substantial memory.
