TOOL #390 · REGISTRATION DATA LAB
MODERN WHOIS · RDAP-FIRST

WHOIS Lookup

Look up domains, IP addresses and AS numbers using authoritative RDAP discovery, then turn the raw registration response into a readable lifecycle, nameserver, registrar, DNSSEC and notice view—with the full JSON still available.

Built for the post-WHOIS era.
RDAP is the modern standards-based registration data protocol. The tool queries authoritative registry/RIR services. OneFreePlace temporarily caches results for up to five minutes to limit repeated requests; the registry service may apply its own terms.

Privacy-aware display

RDAP responses can contain public contact information, but many registries redact personal fields. OneFreePlace displays only the fields returned by the authoritative service, does not enrich them from other sources, and never stores your lookup history.

RDAP-first by design

For gTLD registration data, RDAP is the definitive modern source. The backend discovers the correct authoritative service from the IANA bootstrap registries defined by RFC 9224 instead of hard-coding a commercial WHOIS gateway.

Queries support domains, IPv4/IPv6 addresses and AS numbers. IDNs are converted to their ASCII A-label when the PHP Intl extension is available.

What this tool does not claim

A missing registrant name is usually redaction, not an error. Expiration and status semantics vary by registry. This viewer preserves notices and raw JSON so you can inspect the authoritative context rather than relying on a simplified headline.
