What this counter counts

  • Words: Unicode-aware word segmentation where the browser supports it, with a Unicode regex fallback.
  • Sentences: browser sentence segmentation where available; punctuation-based fallback otherwise.
  • Paragraphs: non-empty text blocks separated by one or more blank lines.
  • Lines: physical lines, including blank lines, once text exists.

Useful, with limits

Reading and speaking times are estimates based on your chosen words-per-minute rates. The readability estimate uses an English syllable heuristic and Flesch formulas, so it is intentionally hidden for very short text and should not be treated as a universal language score. Keyword density is descriptive: there is no recommended percentage you need to hit.
