Citation order is the system.

Build current IEEE references, control reference numbering by first-citation order, generate located citations such as [3, pp. 5–10], manage renumbering, import/export records, and keep every source local.

IEEE numbering rules built into this tool. Saved references are numbered by citation order, not alphabetically. Reordering the sequence renumbers the complete list. Multi-reference citations are written out individually—e.g. [1], [2], [3], [4]—rather than compressed into a range.

Verified source metadata

Use official periodical abbreviations where required. The tool formats what you provide and flags gaps instead of inventing data.

Given names are reduced to initials before the surname. Up to six names are listed; 7+ becomes first author + et al.

IEEE reference numbers follow first citation order. Use this queue to model that order. Moving a source automatically renumbers every citation and reference entry.
Numbered reference list in citation order. IEEE reference numbers form their own column; the list is not alphabetized.
Current IEEE guidance writes out multiple reference numbers individually. This generator intentionally does not compress [1], [2], [3], [4] into a range.

Standard citation

—
Reference-within-reference locator. IEEE supports forms such as [3, pp. 5–10], [3, Fig. 1], [3, Sec. 4.5], [3, Ch. 2, pp. 5–10], and [3, Algorithm 5].

Located citation

—
Paste BibTeX or RIS. Imported records are appended to the citation-order queue in import order. Verify journal abbreviations, issue/month data, report numbers, access dates and publication details against the source.
