Tool 519 · DC, AC & energy planning
Electric Power Calculator
Calculate DC power, single-phase and balanced three-phase AC power, size ideal power-factor correction capacitors, or turn electrical load profiles into energy and cost estimates.
DC + ACReal, apparent and reactive power with mixed units.
3-phase awareLine and phase quantities for wye or delta connections.
PF correctionkVAr compensation, before/after current and capacitor size.
Energy plannerDuty cycle, runtime, kWh and user-defined tariff cost.
Solve DC power from any two electrical values
Enter exactly two of voltage, current, resistance and power. The remaining values are derived using Watt’s law and Ohm’s law.
DC / purely resistive load
Single-phase AC — RMS quantities
Leave exactly one of P, V, I or PF blank. Q and phase angle use the sinusoidal relation PF = cosφ. Total power factor for distorted waveforms is more general than displacement angle alone.
Balanced three-phase AC — line quantities
Leave exactly one of P, VLL, IL or PF blank. Total balanced three-phase power uses √3·VLL·IL·PF. The connection choice changes displayed phase voltage/current, not total power for the same line quantities.
Ideal shunt capacitor sizing
Ideal sinusoidal steady-state sizing only. For real installations, capacitor switching, harmonics, resonance, detuning reactors, overvoltage and utility rules require engineering review.
Energy use and tariff cost
The tariff is entirely user-supplied. This tool does not assume a country, tax, time-of-use schedule, demand charge or current utility rate.
