Scientific Notation Calculator
Convert and inspect huge or tiny decimals, calculate directly in scientific notation, apply significant-figure rules, use engineering/SI prefixes through quetta and quecto, or batch-convert a whole dataset.
Arbitrary exponentsString + BigInt engine avoids ordinary floating-point exponent limits.
Real arithmeticAdd, subtract, multiply and divide with user-selected significant precision.
Sig-fig labAdd/subtract by decimal place; multiply/divide by significant digits.
2022 SI prefixesEngineering notation includes ronna, quetta, ronto and quecto.
Convert one number without losing its scale
Accepts decimals, e-notation, or forms such as 3.45 × 10^−12. A single comma is treated as a decimal marker; use a period if you need unambiguous input.
Number
Set significant digits to 0 to preserve the explicit precision detected from the literal. Integer trailing zeros without a decimal point are treated as ambiguous/non-significant by convention.
Scientific arithmetic
Arithmetic keeps the requested significant precision even at exponents far outside JavaScript Number range. If an addend is far below the selected working precision, the result flags that it was below the retained digit window.
Measured-number arithmetic
For +/−, the answer is rounded to the least precise decimal place. For ×/÷, it is rounded to the smallest significant-figure count among non-exact operands. Exact constants do not limit precision.
Batch converter
Engineering prefixes are shown only when the engineering exponent has an official SI prefix from 10⁻³⁰ through 10³⁰. Prefix symbols are not invented outside that range.
