What this checker treats as authoritative
YouTube Help describes a maximum 5,000-character description. The YouTube Data API documents a 5,000-byte UTF-8 maximum and rejects < and >. This tool shows both instead of pretending those are the same thing. Preview fold length is a simulation because YouTube does not publish one universal “Show more” cutoff across every surface.

Keywords
Checks whether your priority phrases appear and whether they are surfaced early.
Hashtags
YouTube ignores all hashtags when content contains more than 60; up to three may surface near the title.
Links
Long-form description links can be clickable with advanced-feature access; Shorts description URLs are non-clickable.
